The Netherlands and Australia started three-way talks with Russia about downing of MH17

The Netherlands and Australia confirmed at March 27 that three-ways talks with Russia were held in early March related to the downing of MH17. The Netherlands and Australia hold Russia responsible for delivering the BUK TELAR anti-aircraft weapon system which downed MH17 in July 2014.

While the content of the talks are confidential, these are likely discussions about the agenda for possible futher talks about topics like liability and payments. Russia stated they are willing to have such talk however there should be an open agenda. Russia wants to discuss the failure by Ukraine to not close its airspace.

Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko of Russia later that day confirmed the three-way talks. He also said ““So far there is no agreement on the next meeting”.
