During the plea by the Dutch lawyers Boudewijn Van Eijck and Sabine ten Doessschate while defending their client Oleg Pulatov many silly remarks and nonsense requests were made by these two Dutch lawyers. This post is part of a serie of blogposts showing these silly remarks made at June 22 and June 23. All blogposts on this topic can be read here

During the June 22 plea, the defence lawyer stated they wanted to interview Michael Bociurkiw (remarkably  the defence wrote the name incorrectly as Buciourkiw)  because he “had the opinion that the wreckage showed damage caused by a on-board cannon. ”

However, OSCE special mission to Ukraine spokesman M. Bociurkiw has never said that he believes that MH17 wreckage “shows damage to guns”, as the defense argues. He said in an interview at the end of July 2014 that he saw some wreckage with what “almost looks like machine gun fire, very very strong machine gun fire.” A few days later, when asked about that statement, he again said to the Moscow Times:

“I was just trying to describe what we saw – unique holes. As we are not experts we cannot draw any conclusions, nor can we possibly say how they were caused, “he said.” (source Moscow times)

It is very silly by the defence to request an interview with someone who obviously was not aware how destructive a Buk warhead can be. Anyone would make an association with a machine gun damage.
