At April 20 2o18 the Donetsk People Republic (DPR) general prosecution service handed over human remains of people onboard flight MH17 to Dutch authorities. This is reported by Ukraine National News.

The OSCE Permanent Monitoring Mission in Ukraine negotiated between the DPR and Dutch authorities.

The human remains were likely found by freelance journalist Patrick Lancaster. He published a video early December 2017 showing mutiple bones he found at the MH17 crashsite.

Lancaster multiple times found bones at the main crashsite. For 100% the bones were placed by someone so Lancaster could find these and report about it. The next of kin objected to the way Lancaster operates.

A previous handover took many months between the initial finding of the human remains and the handover.
